How to create a UPI QR code for your shop

Go from your existing UPI ID to a clean Scan & Pay poster, without a logo, signup or complicated setup.

The quick version

Copy the correct UPI ID, generate your poster, and test the receiver in a UPI app before putting it on your counter.

Start with the payment address you already use

A payment QR saves your customer from typing your UPI ID. When they scan it in a UPI app, the app reads the payment details so they can review the receiver and complete the payment.

Open your existing banking or UPI app and copy the full UPI ID, including the handle after @. Use the account you intend to receive payments into. This generator does not register a new UPI ID or confirm that an account belongs to you.

Create your shop QR in a few steps

You do not need a shop logo. Your business name appears prominently at the top of the poster, so a simple name is enough to get started.

  1. Open the UPI QR Maker generator and enter your business or receiver name.
  2. Paste your complete UPI ID. Double-check every character.
  3. Leave the amount blank for changing bills, or add a preset amount.
  4. Select Generate my QR code, then choose a poster colour in Style & download.
  5. Download the poster PNG, or choose Print poster to print or save a PDF.

Check the recipient before displaying it

Use a UPI app to scan your generated code. Check the receiving account shown by the app; typing a shop name in the form does not change the bank-verified recipient name. If the receiver is unexpected, stop and check the UPI ID.

When you update the form, select Update QR code and download a replacement. The image already saved on your phone or printed on your counter will not change automatically.

Put it where a customer can scan easily

Keep the poster flat, well lit and within comfortable scanning distance. Preserve the white margin around the QR. Avoid a fold, a glossy reflection or another sticker covering part of the code.

A QR is a payment request, not proof of payment. Confirm the incoming transaction in your own bank or UPI app rather than relying only on a customer’s screenshot.

What a free UPI QR code generator actually creates

A generator packages the receiving details you enter into a QR image. Think of the image as a readable instruction for a compatible payment app, not as a new account. Your UPI ID remains the important receiving address. A different poster colour, a larger shop name or a more attractive border does not change where that address points.

This distinction helps when comparing tools. A shop may need only a reusable payment sign, while an online store may need payment status updates linked to orders. Those are different jobs. The free generator here handles the first job: creating and exporting the payment QR. It does not supply merchant registration, settlement reports, automated refunds or account verification. If your business needs those services, check the actual offering from your bank or payment provider rather than judging a tool by its QR design alone.

Universal UPI QR codes and BHIM: what to expect

People often search for a universal UPI QR code generator because their customers use different apps. For a normal UPI scan-and-pay request, the goal is to encode receiving information that a compatible UPI app can read. You do not need to print four separate posters merely to put four app names on the counter.

If you are looking for a BHIM UPI QR code generator, start with the UPI ID from the account you intend to use. Create the QR, then test it with BHIM and any other UPI apps relevant to your counter. Do not interpret “universal” as a promise that every funding method, account category or app feature will be available. This website is independent of BHIM and NPCI. For an official merchant facility or an account-specific issue, use the relevant provider’s support and registration process.

Pick the right receiving account before making a poster

A useful preparation step is to decide who owns the receiving address and who will check incoming payments. For example, a family-run shop might have several people working at different times. If each person prints a different personal QR without agreement, customers and staff can become confused about where a particular payment went.

Choose the intended receiving account first and confirm its details in the app. Record which UPI ID is used on the counter poster, on invoices and in messages. If different branches intentionally use different addresses, label and manage those versions clearly. A single QR cannot decide which branch should receive a payment after it has been printed. The generator also cannot choose an account type for your business; ask your bank or provider about the right setup when that decision matters.

Stylish UPI QR posters without making scanning harder

A stylish UPI QR code generator should make the payment instructions easier to understand. On this site the style choices change the poster header while keeping the code dark on white. The name is prominent, the receiving address remains visible, and the QR gets its own clear area. That is usually a more practical starting point than filling the page with decorative patterns.

Choose the blue, green or midnight header that suits your counter. Use a readable business name rather than a long slogan in the receiver-name field. If you add the downloaded image to another design, do not put a logo, price sticker or decorative texture over the QR itself. This tool does not offer embedded-logo error correction or AI-generated QR artwork. Its three poster colours are ordinary design choices, and a clear code matters more than the number of visual effects.

Example: one reusable QR for a general store

Imagine a general store where one customer buys items worth ₹87 and the next has a ₹430 bill. For this workflow, an open-amount QR is convenient. The shop name and receiving address stay the same while each customer enters the total from their own bill. Staff can point to the printed code instead of spelling out a UPI ID every time.

Prepare the poster with the amount field blank, download it and test the receiver before display. At checkout, state the bill total clearly. After the customer pays, check the incoming amount and status in the shop’s own app. If staff make notes against receipts, use a consistent process. The reusable poster simplifies entering payment details, but it does not compare payments with purchases, calculate change, maintain stock or replace the shop’s billing records.

Example: a service counter with a standard price

A single-price service has a different workflow. Suppose a counter offers a ₹250 service alongside other work. A preset-amount QR can be prepared for that particular service, with the price visible on the poster. Customers have fewer details to type, while the main open-amount QR can remain available for other totals.

Keep those signs separate and label them so someone buying a different service does not scan the wrong one. When the price changes, generate a replacement and remove the old sign. The amount encoded in an old QR will not update when you edit the website form. If you decide to use only one counter poster, an open amount may be simpler than maintaining several fixed-price copies. Choose the option that makes the staff’s daily process easiest to explain.

Do you need a UPI QR generator app or APK?

For this generator, no app or APK installation is required. Open the website in a modern browser, enter the receiving details, and download the result. Your customer still needs a suitable payment app to scan the QR and complete a payment. The QR maker and the app used to pay are separate parts of the workflow.

This matters when a search result mentions a “free UPI QR code generator APK.” That search may come from someone who specifically wants an Android application. This site offers a browser tool and does not provide an APK download. If your phone has trouble saving a file, check the browser’s downloads or use its print menu; installing an unrelated application is not a necessary step in this process. Use a source you trust for any payment application you actually need.

A handover checklist for staff and future changes

Keep a small record of the final poster version: the business name, receiving UPI ID, whether an amount is included, and where that image is displayed. This can be as simple as an internal note. It helps when someone asks for a replacement print or when the owner changes the receiving address later.

Before opening the counter, staff should know which app or account is used to confirm receipts. If the QR is replaced, update all locations together: the physical counter, any invoice design, and any saved image shared with customers. Do not leave two similar versions in circulation without a clear reason. Finally, remember that a downloaded payment poster is intended to be visible to customers. Keep private order information, account credentials and personal records outside its public fields and payment note.

Shop-owner questions before the first download

Can I use my mobile number instead of a UPI ID? Enter the actual payment address displayed by your app, including its handle. A mobile number by itself is not the UPI ID format accepted by this generator. Do not guess a handle by adding @upi to a phone number; copy the complete address from the intended receiving account.

Can I use the same poster at two counters? If both are meant to receive into the same account, you can print the same generated image. However, the code will not identify which counter received a particular sale. Keep any branch or counter reporting in your own business records or use a provider that offers that feature.

Will the site store my shop’s payment details? Generation happens in the browser, and this tool does not save the entered receiving details to a payment database. Your downloaded file is separate and remains wherever you choose to save or share it. If you use a shared computer, keep track of the exported image and avoid leaving private information in optional fields. A public counter poster should contain only the receiving information you intend customers to see.
